The Singapore Stock Market Today: Mindchamps Preschool Ltd Makes Its Debut

Good Friday evening, everyone. Here are three things about the local stock market that you might be interested in today.

1. The Straits Times Index (SGX: ^STI), finished the day at 3,442.15 points, up 18.98 points or 0.55%.

The biggest winner in the index was Thai Beverage Public Company Limited (SGX: Y92) as its stock price climbed 3.2% to S$0.97.

Yesterday, the purveyor of Chang beer posted its financial results for the year ended 30 September 2017. For the 12-month period, net profit rose 38.5% to 34.7 billion baht, on the back of a marginal revenue decline to around 190 billion baht. Dividend payout for the year increased from 0.60 baht per share to 0.67 baht per share.

Meanwhile, transport firm, Comfortdelgro Corporation Ltd (SGX: C52), lost the most ground today. Its shares fell 1.9% to S$2.04.

2. Keppel Infrastructure Trust (SGX: A7RU) is conducting a strategic review of its interests in the Basslink undersea electricity and telecommunications interconnector between Australia’s Tasmania and Victoria. The Basslink interconnector is owned and operated by the trust’s wholly‐owned subsidiary, Basslink Pty Ltd.

The trust said that it has received a number of enquiries from parties expressing interest in acquiring its stake in Basslink. Keppel Infrastructure Trust added that it has appointed a financial adviser to facilitate the review.

3. Mindchamps Preschool Ltd (SGX: CNE), the biggest operator and franchisor of premium range preschool centres in Singapore, debuted on our local bourse today.

Shares of the preschool operator opened at S$0.84 this morning, up from its initial public offering price of S$0.83, before ending the day at S$0.92.
