Interesting Investing Articles On The State Of The Oil & Gas Industry, The Future Of Singapore Post Limited, And Wisdom From Warren Buffett

An important part of becoming a better investor is to read. And in that spirit, here are a few great articles from my colleagues I have come across recently that I think will help make investors of all stripes better.

State of the oil & gas industry

Keppel Corporation Limited’s (SGX: BN4) chief executive officer, Loh Chin Hua, shared his thoughts on the state of the oil & gas industry in the company’s 2016 annual report. The conglomerate is one of the largest oil rig builders in the world, so Loh has a great vantage point to observe what’s happening to the oil & gas industry.

In a recent article of his, my colleague Chin Hui Leong had pulled some choice quotes from Loh that are found in Keppel Corp’s 2016 annual report.

The future of a company

Singapore Post Limited (SGX: S08) has been in the spotlight for the last two to three years for a number of developments, ranging from the sudden resignation of its chief executive officer, corporate governance issues, a decline in its traditional postal business, to writedowns of its acquisitions.

What lies ahead for Singapore Post? In two articles (found here and here), Hui Leong shared his thoughts about the company’s future.

Warren Buffett’s wisdom

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett has shared many investing lessons over the years of his long career. In his recent article, Jeremy Chia wrote about three things Buffett said this year that could help investors. One such quote, which I find really useful, is found below:

“But you (are) making a terrible mistake if you stay out of a game that you think is going to be very good over time because you think you can pick a better time to enter it.”
