M1 Ltd’s 2016 Annual Report: 15 Numbers That Define The Business

M1 Ltd (SGX: B2F) released its 2016 annual report earlier this year.

If you are new to M1, the annual report is full of information that can help you size up the business. It is worth digging through, as it contains insights on different facets of the telco’s business.

M1’s business can be divided into four segments, namely mobile telecommunications, international call services, fixed services, and handset sales. The first three segments make up its service revenue.

M1 recorded $1.06 billion in revenue and $149.7 million in profit in 2016.

Mobile was the largest revenue contributor at over 60% of the revenue pie. Fixed services contributed 9.8%  while international call services pitched in with 5.8%. Handset sales was 24.1% of total revenue.

In terms of service revenue, M1 brought in $805.5 million. Service revenue is nearly all mobile – the latter accounted for 79.5% of the former. Fixed services came in at 12.9% while international call services was third with 7.6%.

More figures were also shared for the business segments. M1 had 2.02 million mobile subscribers in 2016. Postpaid customers made up 61.8% of its mobile customer base and 89% of total mobile revenue. Elsewhere, fixed services recorded 160,000 subscribers.
