3 Things You Need To Know About the Singapore Share Market Today

Welcome to Monday evening! Here are three things about Singapore’s share market you might want to look at today and over the weekend.

1. If anyone’s unaware, we’re right smack in the middle of earnings season now. If you so wish, find out how insurance outfit Great Eastern Holding Limited (SGX: G07) fared in its latest quarter by jumping in here.

2. The Business Times had reported earlier today that Keppel Corporation Limited (SGX: BN4) and Sembcorp Marine Ltd (SGX: S51) have both been embroiled in a bribery scandal that involves Brazilian national oil giant Petrobras.

This is certainly unpleasant news to say the least, so what does it mean for the investors of both local companies? Find out more about my colleague Stanley Lim’s thoughts on the issue here.

3. Many years ago in Singapore, there was the 5Cs which everyone aspired to – the Credit Card, the Condominium, the Career, the Cash, and the Country Club. Even today, I’m guessing no one would really turn any of these down (okay – maybe just the credit card) if presented to them.

But when it comes to investing, be wary if you find yourself saddled with the 3Cs – Concern, Complacency, and Capitulation. My colleague Chin Hui Leong has written up a storm on why investors should avoid those 3Cs, so do check it out here.
