3 Things You Need To Know About the Singapore Share Market Today

Welcome to the middle of Friday! Here are three things about Singapore’s share market you might want to look at today and over the weekend.

1. As we chug along with the earnings season, take a look at the latest results for companies like Sats Ltd (SGX: S58), Eu Yan Sang International Ltd (SGX: E02), SIA Engineering Company Limited (SGX: S59), and OSIM International Ltd (SGX: O23).

2. Sam Levenson once said, “You must learn from the mistakes of others. You can’t possibly live long enough to make them all yourself.” When it comes to investing mistakes, there’s plenty to learn from Owen Li, a hedge fund manager who turned US$100 million into US$200,000 in a matter of months.

No, I didn’t make a typo – Li had lost nearly all of his clients’ money in less than a year. My colleague Chin Hui Leong had recently dug into the lessons we can glean from Li’s sorry experience, so you can check them out here.

3. Oil has fallen by more than half in price since June 2014. This decline has also caused sharp selloffs in the shares of many oil-related companies. Would these beaten down oil stocks rebound anytime soon? My colleague Stanley Lim doesn’t think so. You can find out why in here.
