Best and Worst Shares in the Straits Times Index Today

The Straits Times Index (SGX: ^STI) has continued its losing streak that started on last Tuesday. It dropped a tiny 0.53 points today to close at 3,114 after rounding off some decimals, leaving the index essentially unchanged from where it was last Friday.

The American market’s gains on the night of 6 Dec 2013, where the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.3% and 1.1% respectively, couldn’t translate into a follow-up performance from Singapore’s shares.

Here are the top three best performing shares among the index today:

1. Hongkong Land Holdings (SGX: H78) added 2% to US$6.06

2. Noble Group (SGX: N21) rose 1.5% to S$1.045

3. SIA Engineering Company (SGX: S59) grew 1.5% to S$4.85
