The Singapore Market This Week

StockMarketBoardThis week, the Straits Times Index (SGX: ^STI) closed at 3,201 points – shedding 4 points or 0.1%. Even though the broader market fell slightly, some STI constituent stocks gained ground.

Golden Agri-Resources Limited (SGX: E5H), Fraser and Neave Limited (SGX: F99) and Jardine Cycle & Carriage Limited (SGX: C07) put on 6.3%, 2.6% and 1.2% to close at $0.59, $5.83 and $36.52 respectively.

Developments this week surrounding the companies are as follows:

  1. Golden Agri announced that it will release its third-quarter results on 12 November 2013;
  2. F&N was granted the eligibility-to-list from Singapore Exchange for the listing of Frasers Centrepoint
  3. Astra International, majority owned by Jardine Cycle & Carriage, released third-quarter results. Net earnings per share were down 8% from Rp362 to Rp333.

CapitaMalls Asia Limited (SGX: JS8) slipped 1.5% to close at $2.03. The company posted a 10% fall in quarterly revenue. But profits grew 4%.

According to Bloomberg, the Straits Times Index is currently trading at 13 earnings. The market capitalisation is $521b.
