In 2013 thus far, the FTSE ST Mid Cap Index has declined 2.4% on price alone, or gained 1.0% in terms of price and dividends combined. This has followed on from its 31.7% price gain or combined price and dividend return of 39.3% in 2012.
The ten highest indicative dividend yields of the FTSE ST Mid Cap Index constituents are represented by seven Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), two stapled trusts and one corporation. The table below details these constituents.

The three highest indicative dividend yields of the FTSE ST Mid Cap Index are maintained by three REITs that invest in different types of property assets in different parts of the world. Lippo Malls (SGX: D5IU) invests in retail related property in Indonesia, Ascott Residence (SGX: A68U) invests in residential related property across 12 countries and Mapletree Industrial Trust (SGX:ME8U) invests in industrial related property assets in Singapore. Both CDL Hospitality Trust and Far East Hospitality Trust are stapled trusts and invest in hotel and lodging related assets.
As exemplified in the above table, the Real Estate Sector is well represented within the FTSE ST Mid Cap Index. The FTSE ST Mid Cap Index includes 15 REITs, two stapled securities that invest in property assets and seven companies that represent the Real Estate Investment & Services Sector. Together these 24 securities make up almost 60% of the capitalisation of the Index.
The 50 securities that make up the FTSE ST Mid Cap Index have a combined market capitalisation of S$107.9 billion. The aforementioned investability screens on constituents of the Index include size, free float and liquidity assessments.
The largest five securities by free float of the FTSE ST Mid Cap Index make up the Reserve List for the STI.
